Unchecked standing water can lead to structural damage, mold, mildew, and unsafe living conditions.
Water damage comes in all shapes and sizes. Your ice maker water connection might be loose, leaving a small, but ever-growing puddle underneath the refrigerator. Other times an older pipe in the basement bursts, filling the room with water, and soaking all the contents in the process. Most homeowners can handle cleaning up a small puddle, but very few, if any, can effectively pump out a flooded basement, and dry it correctly.
At SERVPRO® we’ve made it our mission to understand all aspects of water damage, how to dry out all types of materials, where to place equipment, and most importantly, to respond quickly to a water loss. Within minutes, uncontrolled water can quickly spread into drywall, under wood floors, into furniture, electronics, and carpeting. Any paper-based items will start to swell and warp. Fabrics may bleed and stain items around them.
If standing water is not removed, within the first twenty-four hours, metal items will begin to discolor and rust, drywall will turn soft and lose structural integrity, furniture begins to split, and concrete can become saturated. With each passing day, the damage becomes worse, doors and windows swell and warp, corrosion forms, and mold and mildew begin to grow and spread.
Our trained team will arrive with professional-grade extraction equipment, to remove all standing water. This step is critical, as it speeds up the drying time, and reduces the chances of mold or other secondary water damage. In addition to pumping out the water, our team will begin the process of moving out furniture, paper goods, and other pieces of personal property to prevent further damage.
Once the standing water is removed, our team will consult with the property owner and their insurance carrier, to identify and then remove carpets, flooring, drywall, and paneling, that cannot be saved. Next, powerful drying equipment is placed, along with dehumidifiers, to expedite the drying process. During this stage of the restoration, SERVPRO crew members will monitor the equipment daily, adjusting as necessary, until materials are returned to their normal moisture levels.
Once everything is dry, our team will begin the reconstruction process, carefully making necessary repairs, until the affected area is returned to its preloss condition. Finally, we’ll return and place your personal property right where it used to be.

The Hidden Risks
Beyond the plainly noticeable indications of wetness, water damage exists. It can penetrate insulation, flooring, and walls, leading to significant structural damage over time. If the leftover moisture is not properly dealt with, a breeding ground for mold and mildew may develop, posing a health danger to your family or employees.

How to cleanup after a flood
9/8/2022 (Permalink)
Water damaged home from flooding
When a disaster occurs, it's hard to know where to start. Many times after a major flood damage, your first thought may be to start cleaning things up.
It's important to "first", find out your options. There may be insurance coverage or flood cleanup help that is available to you. And sometimes it can take time. And whether you hire a flood cleanup company or not, they can be a great resource for help.
Initial Safety Inspection
Your first priority is your safety. It's a very normal reaction to want to start cleaning up. For a flood damage, many times homes or structures may contain sewage damage.
During a flood water levels rise. They overwhelm the local sewers. The raw sewage contaminates the water, which then contaminates the homes and structures that it floods.
If you don't know how to assess the safety of your home, your local flood cleanup company can help.
Flood Cleanup Insurance
In some parts of the US, there are high-risk flood areas that already need flood insurance. Find out from your insurance provider if you have any coverage for your property for a flood.
One thing to note if you in-fact do have flood insurance coverage is to find out what the flood insurance covers. Many time it is not all-inclusive. Meaning, you may only receive help for part of what needs to be repaired on your property.
It's important to know this if you decide to hire a flood cleanup company. You don't want to be stuck with a bill for more than what your insurance will cover you for.
Removing Contents to Discard or Salvage
As mold can grow within 24 hours, it’s important to work quickly when removing your belongings. It’s also important to note that long term flooding will likely ruin most contents. Rescue your most valuable items, but never at the expense of your own safety.
- Remove all furniture and contents to allow for cleanup of the structure. Solid wood and metal furniture may be salvageable.
- Saturated mattresses and furniture should be discarded.
- Carpet, padding and drywall should always be replaced as well as rugs.
- Most food products should be discarded. Sealed and canned goods may be cleaned and salvaged.
- Photos and important papers can be frozen within plastic bags in a frost-free freezer until there is time to thaw and clean them, perhaps by a professional.
- Flooded appliances will need to be inspected by a professional before use.
- Any material that is discarded should be kept for your insurance adjuster to inspect.
Cleaning and Drying
Remove any mud and silt with a shovel. A garden hose can be used to wash hard surfaces.
Once the structure is completely cleaned, dying fans and dehumidifiers can be used to correctly speed up and dry out the structure.
Appliances that have direct exposure to sunlight may cause irreversible damage if left out too long. You can also increase the airflow with the use of drying fans which you can rent at your local hardware store. Air-dry is best for your personal belongings.
Gently clean fragile objects so as not to damage them. Use soft brushes and cloths and avoid rubbing which can cause scratches and damage.
Focus on your most important belongings as you may not be able to salvage everything.
During a major disaster, your local flood cleanup companies will find themselves overwhelmed. As a result out-of-state flood cleanup companies may come in for support and help.
It is important to hire a good flood cleanup company. But how do you know a good company from a bad one? Here are the most common complaints our disaster team hears when we travel to a flood:
- "The company I hired had a few guys come out to start the cleanup. But now, I can't get them to come back. They keep telling me tomorrow."
- "I stayed home from work and the company I hired no-showed. I've called multiple times. I've already paid half down."
- "I paid for a flood cleanup on my property but now there is a smell and I can't get the company that did the cleanup to come back".
We hear these types of complaints quite often during a major disaster. At SERVPRO of Kailua we have a dedicated Storm Disaster Team. We get called in to assist our local Franchisees when they get overwhelmed after a major flood.
We resolve issues like this by doing the following:
- To speed up the process we assign one full crew at a time to a structure. This also helps us schedule the next property on-time as we know exactly when we'll be done. Many times flood cleanup companies will bounce their labor crews back and forth. This only delays the completion of the project.
- We always call in advance if there is ever a change to the schedule so you're not left waiting for someone that was never planning on showing up.
- We are a preferred vendor for most insurance carriers nationwide. To maintain a "preferred" status we follow industry standards, local laws and city ordinances to a "T".
What's good about hiring a flood cleanup company at SERVPRO is one, we are all locally owned and operated. And two, we are all part of a National Franchise which can offer support if there is ever an issue for work that's been performed to your home or structure.
For questions or to schedule a no-charge inspection, call us 24/7 at 808-235-5015 and one of our experience coordinators can further assist you.

Swimming Pool Leak in Kaneohe Home?
7/12/2022 (Permalink)
We restore water damage 24-hours a day in Honolulu County.
Aloha! If you have a leaking swimming pool, you may be compromising your home’s foundation and wasting thousands of gallons of water each month! Our local team in Kailua responds to water damage emergencies throughout the year in Kaneohe and offers these tips from the Environmental Protection Agency to determine if your pool is leaking:
- Grab a clear container and a marker
- During the test period, turn off the pool auto-fill, do not manually add water to the pool, and avoid splashing water out of the pool
- Put the container on the pool steps and mark the water level on the outside of the container
- Now, fill the container with pool water up to the mark you just made so the levels match
- Mark the water level inside the container
- Now, wait and give evaporation time to work, usually two to three days. If it rains or is windy, you’ll have to perform the test again.
- Place the container on the pool steps. If the water in the pool is lower than the water in the container, you have a leak
- If both the pool level and the container water levels are the same, you do not have a leak

Water Leaks in your home
5/2/2022 (Permalink)
Flood in a home
Water Leaks and damage to your home.
Refrigerators, dishwashers and other appliance malfunctions are one of the most common reasons water damage affects today’s homes. A slight breach in the gasket on a washer or a small leak in the pipes leading to an automatic ice maker can slowly damage the walls or the floors of your Kailua home in hidden areas. Another challenge on this Islands can be rats that chew the lines. SERVPRO technicians receive training to locate and restore the many paths water takes to intrude and damage structures of your home.
When SERVPRO IICRC certified technicians arrive, expect questions about where you notice water or dampness. We take it from there, using moisture measuring devices to give us a baseline from which we determined drying goals. A technician may remove the kick plates between the bottom of your cabinets and the floor to check for obvious leaks and any standing water contained underneath. Our crew locates the leak and arranges for repair and then gets to work on the damage done by the water.
Slow leaks can equal major damage as wood swells and weakens. We evaluate the condition of your cabinets to see if drying alone is an option or if some pieces of wood need to be removed and replaced. The floor under the cabinets also receives an inspection, including the subflooring. Tile floor handles water well unless there are cracks in the joints or grout. An examination of the subfloor may be necessary, viewed from a lower level or crawlspace. As we work through the areas saturated we look for mold growth, which is common when water leaks over time. If found, we add mold remediation to the agenda; our technicians are trained in the EPA mold abatement protocols.
SERVPRO crews extract any visible water and set up air movers and dehumidifiers to reduce moisture in the air and fixtures. We recommend you run your AC units as well to lower humidity. The team monitors moisture levels, and we remove our equipment only when the proper levels are attained.
If your suspicion that a water leak exists somewhere in your kitchen needs confirmation give us a call at (808) 235-5015. An experienced water damage crew from SERVPRO of Kailua North / Laie makes certain the leak is found and fixed and the damage restored to preserve your home and your investment.
Water Damage Follows This Timeline
4/20/2022 (Permalink)
You may have noticed your bathroom sink leaks every once in a while. No big deal, right? Wrong! You should never underestimate the havoc water can wreak on your home.
The average household leak can waste up to 10,000 gallons of water in a year.
Any water damage your home may be experiencing progresses rapidly, penetrating floors, walls and soft surfaces. The best way to react is to address the issue as soon as possible before it can get worse. Here’s a timeline of how quickly the damage can set in.
<h2first-24-hours">The First 24 Hours
Your Central Honolulu home has a one in four chance of encountering flood damage within a 30-year period in a high-risk area. Knowing what to do next is essential.
Immediately after, within the first 24 to 48 hours, certain items will immediately fall victim to water’s disastrous effects.
Upholstered furnishings and wood structures can swell as a result of moisture. Fragile items, such as books and photographs, may become warped beyond repair. This is also when mold first starts to develop, which means it’s vital to take action within this time period.
The experts at SERVPRO of Central Honolulu specialize in restoration, and we want to make sure you save money and your precious keepsakes! Those are the items that can’t be replaced. We will make sure to let you know if there are any items that cannot be saved.
<h2the-first-week">Within the First Week
After the first 24 hours, water damage will progress further and quickly. If excessive moisture is present, mold will spread exponentially. If mold begins to grow, it can even cause structural damage to your home.
Any porous surfaces in your home like wood or walls will begin to show the damage, as they’re compromised by the moisture. Metal surfaces in your home will start corroding as well.
<h2a-week">In a Week
It’s never a good idea to let water damage progress this far. Letting the moisture sit for an extended period of time could cause irreversible damage. As time goes on, the costs and efforts to restore the structure will increase significantly, and the risks associated with structural damage are greater.
<h2SERVPRO-can-help-you">How SERVPRO Can Help You
Here’s what you need to know about our restoration process: The journey begins with the first call. It’s optimal if you call within the first 24 hours, so we can provide you with the best results possible.
Our service work then begins with a thorough extraction of the water in your home. That way we can prevent the spread of water throughout the structure and reduce drying time.
Next, your home will likely need a full cleaning, including sanitation and deodorization. Lucky for you, our specialists are experts who will come equipped with industry-leading drying equipment to remove the water you can’t see.
Lastly, your home may require construction work to get back to its preloss condition, but we’re prepared to handle anything from minor repairs to rebuilding entire areas of your home.
We can simplify the restoration process by handling both the initial damage mitigation and rebuilding the affected areas. SERVPRO will keep you up to date on every step and have you back in your home or business in no time.

Irrigation System Flooding in Kailua?
4/5/2022 (Permalink)
We are leaders in water damage restoration services in Honolulu County.
Aloha! Kailua locals can benefit from finding leaks in your in-ground sprinkler or irrigation system. Our local team in Kailua offers these tips for finding leaks in your sprinkler system.
- Find your main sprinkler system valve and shut it off
- Once you shut off the sprinkler system valve, look at the low flow indicator on your water meter. If it keeps moving, the water leak is inside your home.
- If the low flow indicator stops moving, the leak is in your main sprinkler system pipe
- To check for visible irrigation system leaks, turn off your sprinkler system valve and wait at least two minutes. This allows the main sprinkler system pipe to refill with water.
- Go to your controller and turn on the zone. Go to the zone you turned on and listen for water running.
- Do you see water bubbling up from the ground? Are there any wet spots or pooling of water?
- Look for broken sprinkler heads in the zone. If water is not hitting the target area or flowing out of the sprinkler heads, you will need to replace the sprinkler heads.
- Repeat this process for each zone in your irrigation system
- Call a certified irrigation contractor if you can't fix the problem by replacing the sprinkler heads

Tips for Protecting Your Home From Heavy Rain in Kahuku?
3/1/2022 (Permalink)
We restore water damage 24-hours a day in Honolulu county.
Aloha! Do you know that inspecting your air conditioning unit for possible sources of water leaks should be part of your home’s routine maintenance plan in Kahuku? SERVPRO® of Kailua offers these helpful tips from the Institute of Business and Home Safety for protecting your home water intrusion from heavy rain:
Check wall air conditioners for leaks.
Internal Drain: If the air conditioning unit has an internal drain, make sure the pipe size is adequate, and water is running and flowing freely in order to handle a high volume of water.
Caulking of Air Conditioning Unit Sleeve: Look for any gaps, cracks, or other damage that indicates improper caulking around the edge of the sleeve to the exterior of the building. This increases vulnerability to water entry.
Orientation: Tilting the air conditioning unit sleeves slightly (two degrees) towards the exterior wall can significantly reduce the water’s entry.
Weather Stripping: Proper weather stripping between the air conditioning unit and the sleeve can reduce the water from entering.

Sewer Backup in Laie?
2/1/2022 (Permalink)
We clean and restore sewer backups in Honolulu county.
Aloha! SERVPRO® of Kailua professionals have the training, equipment, and experience to clean and restore sewer backups in your Laie home or commercial business. Here is some information on preventing sewer backups in your sewer lateral and city main from the Insurance Information Institute:
Properly dispose of grease
Cooking oil should be poured into a heat-resistant container and disposed of properly after it cools off, not in the drain. Washing grease down the drain with hot water is unsatisfactory. As the grease cools off, it will solidify either in the drain, the property owner’s line, or in the main sewer causing the line to constrict and eventually clog.
Properly dispose of paper products
Paper towels, disposable (and cloth) diapers, hygienic wipes, and feminine products do not deteriorate quickly and can cause a great deal of trouble in the property owner’s lateral as well as in the city main.
Periodically cut tree roots
If you have continuing problems with tree roots in your lateral, you may have to regularly have the roots cut by a professional.
Replace your line with new plastic pipe
Plastic pipe will prevent tree roots from entering your line. It is recommended to replace your line and tap with new plastic pipe.
Install a backwater prevention valve to prevent sewer backflows

We restore water damage in Honolulu county!
Aloha. SERVPRO® of Kailua is part of a national network of over 1700 franchises, and when emergency services are needed, we can mobilize resources as needed. This picture is from an emergency water restoration we did in Michigan. The roof had a leak that was not repaired, and the water continued to enter and saturate the roofing structure and ceilings until the ceilings collapsed under the weight of the water.
We tarped the roof to minimize secondary damage to the home’s interior rooms and cleaned up and removed the debris when we arrived. We extracted the water from the room and set up drying equipment. Once the room was completely dry, we repaired the roof and ceiling drywall and repainted it. Now you would never know there had been water damage!

Water Insurance Coverage in Kailua?
7/5/2021 (Permalink)
We are trusted leaders in water damage restoration in Honolulu County!
Aloha! Did you know that SERVPRO® of Kailua can help with the insurance process and paperwork when we restore water damage in Kailua? Here are some tips from the Insurance Information Institute for making sure you have the right kind of insurance to cover water damage in your area:
Different types of water damage are insured by different types of policies.
Homeowners and renters insurance provides coverage for burst pipes, wind-driven rain, and various other causes of loss. Generally speaking, water that comes from the top down—such as rainfall and burst sprinklers—is covered by a standard homeowners policy.
Some policies cover sewer and drain backups, but many do not; however, you can purchase a sewer backup rider to your homeowner's or renters' coverage.
Typically, any water that comes from the bottom up is covered by a separate flood insurance policy, which can be purchased from the federal government’s National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), and from some private insurers. If you live in a flood-prone area, learn more about appropriate coverage.

Toilet Overflow in Kailua?
4/26/2021 (Permalink)
Troubled Toilet in Kailua?
SERVPRO of Kailua responds to water damage emergencies often in Kailua, and we know that the faster the damage is mitigated, the lower the degree of water damage may be. According to the Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety (IBHS) faulty supply lines, toilet flanges, fill valve assemblies, or toilet backups and overflows were attributed to 78 percent of water damage from toilets. Here are some loss prevention and maintenance tips from the IBHS:
Be patient after you flush and wait for the valve to completely finish refilling the tank and bowl.
If an overflow looks imminent, lift off the tank cover and lift the float to shut off water flow to the tank, and then turn off the supply valve.
Twice a year, inspect a toilet’s components, such as the fill, supply, flush valves, and the supply line. Make sure you can turn off the supply.
If you have older screw-type valves that are hard to turn or start leaking, consider replacing them with simpler ball valves that are easy to shut off quickly.

Professional Water Damage Remediation Services In Pearl City Area

Water seeped into wooden flooring and caused the flooring to bubble and crack.
Do not push water damage aside in your Pearl City Home
Water Damage can and will worsen with neglect. Pushing water-related issues out of mind will not repair the damage and will drastically worsen with time. Do not wait! Sitting water will seep into walls, cabinets, and furniture causing the damage to worsen and pose new threats in supporting mold growth. Ensure any water damage does not worsen through neglect, take the needed steps to care for your home.
Per Say a refrigerator in your Pearl City kitchen was to have a “small” leak and a simple solution would be to place a towel on the ground to catch leaking water. Temporary or quick fixes may seem effective in taking care of seemingly small issues, but if the issue is not treated by professionals immediately, the issue will worsen over time and possibly result in greater damage, causing higher costs down the road. With repeated exposure to moisture, the risk of water damage and the potential of fungi growth increases. There is also the possibility the leak may worsen and the flooring or cabinets are then at significantly higher risk of bubbling or cracking due to the repeated exposure of water.
SERVPRO has a national reputation of being Faster to Any Size Disaster. We are timely to your disaster and efficient throughout the restoration of your property. With 24/7 availability you can call SERVPRO of Kailua any time of day!

How to Save Water Damaged Carpet
8/14/2019 (Permalink)
If the carpeting in your Kapolei home becomes flooded, contact SERVPRO professionals today.
Experiencing any kind of flooding can be devastating to homeowners or even overwhelming when thinking about repairs. If your Kapolei, HI home has been affected by flooding there are many questions to be asked when deciding to either replace the flooring or get it cleaned. Here is a guide of questions to ask in deciding the course of action.
- How long was the room exposed to flood water?
- Was the flood water contaminated?
- Does everything, including the padding, need to be replaced?
Once these questions are answered contact a water damage restoration specialist to help expedite process and assess the flooding damages in your home.
Things to Know:
Time Exposed to Water
After 72 hours of exposure to water all flooring needs to be replaced. Once any material is exposed to water for over 72 hours the material may delaminate or begin microbial, fungi, growth. This includes even the padding below your carpet! Padding is thick and heavy, making it extremely difficult to clean and dry.
Contaminants
Though flooding caused by a pipe break within the home may be fairly clean, flooding coming inside from the outdoors carries many contaminants, including dirt, debris or even sewage. When determining how clean the water is consult a water damage specialist, who can establish the steps taken in either cleaning or replacing the flooring..
Saving Flooring
When possible and with careful consideration, flooring materials may be saved! In deciding with a water damage specialist to save your flooring, the carpeting is carefully rolled up and removed for cleaning and disinfecting. If needed the padding is then removed and thrown out and new padding is placed. Now the original flooring is ready to be placed.
No matter the water damage; whether it be a burst pipe,an overflowing bathtub or dishwasher clean up and restoration is always a necessity. To ensure a smooth and easy restoration of your home work together with your trained water professionals.
Did you say “Water Damage Categories”?
8/14/2019 (Permalink)
Water damage caused by flooding from dishwasher, classifying as a Category 2. Quick clean up! Quick recovery!
When addressing water damage there are 3 Categories recognized. As the category level rises so does the contamination.Clean water, or Category 1, is water from a broken pipe or a sink without any contaminants. Though category 1 may be harmless it can quickly become contaminated and change from a Category 1 to a Category 2 and pose new health hazards.
Category 2 water can come from a variety of sources:
- Category 1 water left for over 72 hours
- Leaking washing machines
- Leaking dishwashers
- Leaking toilet tanks
- Broken aquariums or aquarium accessories
- Standing water
Category 2 water damage doesn’t need to stand or age to become contaminated. Water from the appliances listed above are automatically Category 2.
Though Category 2 may not be as toxic as Category 3 water, there are many concerns or cautions to have when discussing Category 2 water damage.
- Touching, Drinking, or any other contact may cause illness
- Clean water can quickly and easily become Category 2
- Category 2 water can become contaminated with disease-carrying residue, leading to classification of Category 3
Water damage, Categories 1, 2 and 3, require immediate action. With any contaminated water there are posed health risks. To ensure restoration is safe efficient leave the clean up to professionals.

6 Steps to Take if Your Home Has Flooded
5/11/2019 (Permalink)
Take the proper steps when you deal with water damage!
When your home is flooded it is important to assess the damage and make your property safe once again. Knowing which steps to take and acting fast after a disaster is crucial in order to restore your home back to its original state. Below are six tips on what to do in case your home has flooded.
1. Contact the Local Authorities
If there is a risk the utility lines were damaged, or if there is sewer water in the flood, contact the right authorities before going back into the house, as those can affect health. Electronic components or gas leaks that are in contact with water can be very dangerous and must be handled by a licensed professional.
2. Turn Electricity and Water Off
If you are able to get to the main electrical panel and water valves, turn off your utilities. The first 24 hours are critical after a flood. This will protect your home once the emergency is over and power is restored.
3. Listen to Local Authorities
If your town is determined to be unsafe follow instructions posted by local leaders, make sure to listen for evacuation procedures, and do not return to your town, or home unless a professional team ensures it is safe.
4. Check your surroundings
When coming into a home with water damage, check for falling pieces such as an unstable floor, warped walls and beams, and loose roofing. Do not enter the property if you believe it could collapse.
5. Call your Insurance Company
Call your insurance company to clarify what kinds of damage the insurance will cover so you can take the right steps to repair the damages. You will be requested to send pictures of the flood, so take clear pictures and walkthrough videos before cleaning up, you may also choose to wait for an adjuster before cleaning up.
6. Hire a Water Damage Professional
The aftermath of a flood can be dangerous, call a professional water damage company to help restore your home back to its original state. The sooner water is removed, the less damage it will make. These teams will ensure the moisture is out of your home, and there won’t be mold growth, among other problems.

SERVPRO Offers Many Types of Effective Services Which can Remediate or Prevent Water Damage for Bungalow Owners
One of the most common causes of water damage in Hawaii is, of course, natural disasters. The time it takes for you to make a decision can drastically increase losses you might experience. With the help of a qualified professional, you can keep an eye on areas that regularly cause problems and stop extreme situations before they happen.
SERVPRO’s IICRC-industry certified technicians can perform an inspection of your property that gives you a close look at what you have to deal with to make your bungalow safe. It helps to check your heating and air-conditioning system for leaks, proper drainage, or installation problems. Your roof might pose problems as well with bent, damaged, or clogged gutters and downspouts.

Kaneohe Water in the Wrong Places Means SERVPRO is Needed for Clean Up
Secondary Damages Often Occur After Appliance Malfunctions, Gets Things Dried Out Fast, Call SERVPRO
Air conditioners are an everyday staple in nearly every Kaneohe home. While they can be a luxury that makes for some comfortable living, they are still appliances that are mechanized and inevitably bound to malfunction and fail. For window units in homes that don’t feature central air stations, these failures can leave substantial water on the floors and walls of the area.
There are numerous reasons why you want to seek professional assistance for the water damage to your Kaneohe residence. First of all, you probably do not have the tools and equipment to assess the full extent of the damage. You also do not likely possess the equipment or experience to extract and thoroughly dry your home following such an incident, which failing to do this can result in further damages and lingering structural concerns.
Our SERVPRO emergency response team act quickly to reach your home and begin the restoration process right away. With situations like pooling water, the faster the water can get extracted and the area dried, the less likely that lasting damages occur. The initial assessment of the damage first ensures that water is done leaking onto the floor and that the damaged unit is removed from the area to prevent further issues.
Extraction and drying follow this step. Our SERVPRO IICRC certified technicians then bring out sophisticated instruments like our infrared cameras to measure moisture and assess internal damages to the walls. The further scanning of the area ensures that all of the areas get wholly dried and that the moisture and heat inside of the walls of your home do not combine to produce mold colonies.
Ultimately, our job is not completed until the homeowner can be shown that all of the water has been removed and the damage that it caused has been successfully restored. As this is part of our commitment to customer satisfaction, SERVPRO of Kailua North / Laie should be the team you think of when you are facing your own water emergencies. You can reach our emergency response team at any time by calling (808) 235-5015.

Areas that Are More Susceptible to Water Damage in a Typical Kahaluu Home

SERVPRO Inspects Hot Spots for Water Leakage to Help Prevent Water Damaging Events
Water damage in a typical Kahaluu home does not affect all the areas equally. Some areas are more susceptible to this risk than others. With this being the case, it is important for every homeowner in the area to be familiar with some of the potentially hardest hit areas. It is only in this way that appropriate mitigation strategies can be adopted.
The years and years of SERVPRO’s operation in the field of combating water damage in Kahaluu makes it qualified to offer homeowners information on this issue. Our accumulated work experience and acquired expertise make us a viable partner to restore water damaged homes. For a start, areas beneath the sinks are perhaps the most vulnerable. This is for the sheer reason that sinks handle the lion’s share of all the water that flows in a typical home. Negligence is also a key factor. This is mainly because users of kitchen faucets have time and again failed to close them tightly after use. Bathrooms come in second, as SERVPRO has consistently noted. These two facilities handle quite a large quantity of water, second only to the sinks and kitchens.
They also contain pipes, faucets, and drainage channels that are prone to leaks and damages. Areas underneath water heaters and roof gutters are the third worst affected. SERVPRO technicians often restore these water damaged areas during a service. When unable to contain the excess water, damage is the result. In times of excess precipitation, the basements are often badly hit. Their location below the ground level greatly hampers their drainage.
As such, they can flood or contain excess levels of moisture. They also suffer other negative consequences of excess accumulation of water. Identifying hot spots can help prevent, mitigate, and reduce costs and efforts for water damage restoration. Rely on SERVPRO of Kailua North / Laie to restore your property to its preloss condition. Call us 24/7 at (808) 235-5015 for a prompt response.

Keep the Water Where It Belongs, Not in Your Kailua Bungalow--Call SERVPRO
Water Leaks? Prevent Damage by Calling SERVPRO in the Kailua Area
Appliance malfunctions are one of the most common reasons water damage affects today’s homes. A slight breach in the gasket on a washer or a small leak in the pipes leading to an automatic ice maker can slowly damage the walls or the floors of your Kailua home in hidden areas. SERVPRO technicians receive training to locate and restore the many paths water takes to intrude and damage structures of your home.
A modern kitchen makes water work in many ways. Clean dishes and quantities of ice keep your household going strong, water lines snaking under cabinets to make these things happen. Leaking in one or more of these lines saturates your kitchen fixtures, causing water damage in your Kailua home. You notice an uptick in your water bill and occasional puddles on the floor. Looking under the sink or you see a damp cabinet bottom. Mopping it up does not cure the problem. Contacting a professional is the wise thing to do. We find the source and make sure to abate both leak and damage.
